Have you heard that there is going to be another Alice in Wonderland, ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS, coming out this May. I am so excited. I have loved Alice in Wonderland since I was a kid. And now that I am all grown up, I am loving that there is a grown up version of this. There is something to be said for a magical place filled with crazy characters and unusual rules. Who does not fantasize about being in a crazy place like that, and getting away from the everyday of life. Of course, everyone has their favorite characters. Mine has always been and will always be, the Cheshire Cat. Dating all the way back to the cartoon. I love how he is a big crazy, ok, a lot crazy and you can never quite tell if he is trying to help or hinder Alice. While he does help from time to time, he also tends to get her into spaces that can be a bit hard to get out of. In the end, it turns out well, but that is the end. To celebrate ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS coming out soon, I thought a Cheshire Cat cocktail would be a fun way to get in the movie mood. Think how fun it would be for a movie night out, to have before or after the movie, or once the movie is out on DVD, have it for a ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS party. Be sure to check out my Mad Hatter cocktail too.
Cheshire Cat Cocktail
Serving size is 1 8oz cocktail glass
1 0z of Cherry Vodka
1oz of Blue Curacao
1/2 0z of Strawberry Vodka
1/2 oz Grenadine
2 oz Sprite
Purple sanding sugar
TIP: I prefer to shop online for everything. I am always busy and can’t always get to the store. Worst still is when I finally get to the store and they don’t have what I am looking for, I get very annoyed. Click the links above to order these products.
You will need 1 small plate or bowl to decorate your glassware. Pour out some of your sanding sugar into the plate or bowl.
Now cut a lemon in half and rub the juice along the rim of the glassware
Then take your glassware and dip it in the sugar – set to the side
In a large bartender shaker add both vodkas and grenadine along with only a few pieces of ice
Shake well to combine
Fill your glassware 3/4 of the way full with ice
Now add your Vodka mix and fill ONLY 1/2 way
Rinse your shaker with water
Now add the Blue Curacao and sprite
Shake well to combine
Use a large serving spoon upside down hold it above the glass and slowly pour the Blue Curacao mix into the glass.
You are pouring the mix directly onto the spoon and letting the liquid drain off the spoon into the cocktail glass
If you do it slow it will not mix.
