These Non Candy Easter Basket ideas are sponsored by VTech. All thoughts are my own.
Of course my kids love Easter. They are all about the Bunny and the egg hunts, dying eggs and of course, the candy. I , however, am not about the candy. While my boys are finally at an age where they can be somewhat responsible about candy, my girls are still at the age of attempting to eat it all before 10am. So I like to change things up and see how I can make Easter still fun in their eyes without all the sugar overload.
I really like to use a fun basket. Regular Easter are cute and festive. But once the candy is out of them, they are only fun for carrying around plastic Easter Eggs. Then we put them in the basement for the next year, and they usually end up getting broken. Which makes no sense, but it happens every year. At Target or the craft store, in the dollar section, there are often cute wooden boxes and things that can be used as a basket. These are great because the kids can color them with markers, or use paint for them. So after the morning Easter fun is over, the kids can be crafty for a while. Then the kids can use the baskets to hold their little trinkets in their room or their play room. I love things that serve a purpose. I pick up a few other little trinkets that they kids play with that have an Easter theme like stamps and little toys.
I love things that are educational. And as many of you know, I am a tech head. So are my kids. We love all things tech and I fully believe that technology can be huge in helping kids learn, while letting them do it in a fun way. This is the biggest thing I love about VTech. We have gotten the chance to play with several of the VTech Innotabs over the years, and we have loved all of them. Right now, we have to most recent version, Innotab 3S. We love adding new games to our collection. Since my girls are huge Disney Junior fans, we can find cartridges to add to our game collection easily. 2 fun games that will be great additions this year: Sofia the First and Doc McStuffins. My girls love these cartoons and so do I.
Sofia is at the castle and all of her classes have been moved around. She now has to use clues from her friends to find them. While the kids are having fun playing the games and helping Sofia do all the things that she needs to do, they are actually building skills like logic, sequences, patterns, practicing rhyming words and learning how to classify things. Plus there are lots of photo fun and creativity.
In our other game, The Doc is in. The kids get to work with Doc and help fix all of the BoosBoos, complete with the Big Book of BooBoos that the kids can color in. Doc helps the kids work on learning to stay healthy, memory skills, reading and matching.
All of the Innotab games that we have come across all feature the Ebook option as well. This is where the games read to the kids which helps foster a love of reading and helps them learn that letter makes sounds and when they are grouped together, that they make words.
Since as much as I love that the kids enjoy tech toys, I also like toys that they can move around and play with. My kids like things that they can manipulate. I love the Switch & Go Dinos® Turbo and the Go! Go! Smart Wheels® Vehicle.
The Switch & Go Dinos® Turbo is almost like a transformer, but so much cooler. Ours is an orange ankylosaur (I think) and it can turn into a truck by just a few twists and flips. It is easy for Willow to transform it back and forth into which style she wants. It rolls easily and keeps going across the floor. It has fun lights and makes noise as the kids play with it.
Then there is the Go! Go! Smart Wheels® Vehicle. This toy goes along with different tracks. We do not have the tracks, but that didn’t stop our fun. There are lights and the car talks. And my daughter loved racing it across the floor and making it do tricks.
