This review is brought to you by Meals in a Jar recipe book. I was provided a copy of the book to assist me in this post. No other compensation was received and all opinions are my own.
You know how much I love cook books and recipes of all kinds. But as much as I love to cook, there are many times that I am just too busy. I hate feeling the kids processed foods, but on those busy nights, we do end up turning to something that is from a box or a prepackaged freezer meal.
I have been doing a lot of work stocking up my freezer, so that when those nights come, I can just grab something wholesome that we can eat. Something that can be made when I forgot to hit the grocery store, or last minute after we have been at the pool all day.
As much as I love the frozen meals I have stocked up, I recently heard about meals in a jar. You know like those cookie mixes and brownie mixes you give out as gifts. Well, these are meals. How fun and perfect is that! The meals are prepped ahead, and using a dehydrator, vacuum sealer and a pressure cooker (sometimes a few more things, or not all are needed for ever recipe) you can have meals that just need water to make later down the line. In Meals in a Jar recipes by Julie Languille, there are step-by-step instructions for 125 natural breakfasts, lunches, dinners and desserts, including Biscuits and Gravy, Braised Short Ribs, Turkey Pot Pie, Breakfast Burritos, White Chocolate Cranberry Cookies and much more. If you like to keep your pantries well stocked so you always have something on hand, or even if you are a prepper wanting to ensure a full stock pile, this book is perfect.
Each recipe can make anywhere from 8-8 serving size portions all the way up to 16-8 serving size portions. The recipes include cream soups like cream of broccoli and cream of cauliflower, beef lentil soup, or carrot ginger soup, to pizza kits, to pulled pork, braised chicken and mushroom and even breads and pop overs. Also there is a section of recipes for snacks, beverages and lots of extras.
This book is filled with great recipes and ideas to keep any stockpile and pantry filled and ready for anything. Even just completing a few recipes will have you will be set.
