I have always loved football. I have been watching it since I was a kid. I remember my mom making all kinds of snacks and treats for everyone while we were watching the game. She would spend almost the entire game fussing in the kitchen. I used to think it was because she wasn’t a huge fan of football. As I got older, and I was the one who starting hosting things, it turned out, it was more because she was always cooking. It takes forever. I love having everyone over to watch the game at my place, but I am not ok with missing the game because I am busy making snacks and such. That is why I have homegating hacks.
I can have our homegating snacks together and on the table in under 30 minutes, including my own homemade cheesy chili dip.
First: Keep it simple. There is no need to make game day snacks so complicated. I used to make homemade honey BBQ wings. Now I buy Tyson® Boneless Wyngz. We love the honey BBQ flavor because everyone likes them. The Wyngz are full of flavor, not too much heat and the best part of all they take no prep work at all. Making wings at home take a long time. You have to coat the wings, flavor them, create a sauce, and then fry them. All for 2 bites of meat and then you have to move on to the next one. Plus, they make such a mess. With Tyson Boneless Wyngz, I pop them on a baking sheet, put them in the oven and bake for 15 minutes. Done and done.
While the chicken is in the oven baking, I put Ball Park® beef hotdogs in a pan. I like to use my grill pan because it gives the nice grill marks. But any frying pan will do. I cook them on one side before flipping to finish the other side. Hot dogs are always great for a fast meal. Whether for a game day snack or for a “need dinner fast” night, Ball Park hotdogs are fast and easy.
Chips and dips. Everyone loves chips and dips. I have the perfect dip recipe. Cheesy Chili dip can be put together and added into the oven while the chicken is baking.
To Make Cheese Chili Dip:
1 package of soften cream cheese
1 can of chili with beans
1 cup of cheddar cheese
Mix the cream cheese and chili together. Top with cheese. Bake at 400 until melted, about 10 minutes. Serve with chips or as a topping for hot dogs.
Another great tip to save time and save money, get the Tyson® chicken and Ball Park® hotdogs, as well as all of your other snacks, at Sam’s Club. I love to buy in bulk because whatever we can’t use I can save for later. Oh who am I kidding, with this crazy crew, we use it all.
