I have a sponsored partnership with Deliv. All thoughts are my own.
Here’s the situation. My husband works crazy hours and I blog/ social media consulting/va work. I have 4 kids who either work or do sports and after school activities. My life tends to be really crazy. I had an amazing opportunity fall into my lap for buying a house. When I sat down to see if it was something that was possible, I realized that it isn’t. My budget is just too out of control. I have too many old bills that are still hanging around, waiting to be paid. My debt to income ratio doesn’t look good on paper. And it made me start reevaluating my budget. I have always heard such fantastic things about the Dave Ramsey programs and thought that I would read up on some things that he had to say.
I had already put into place many of his tips and trick to get a budget under control. One of his tips is to do the debt snowball technique. In that technique he mentions about trying to get an additional part time job. With my schedule that is almost impossible unless I give up the 4 hours of sleep a night I get. I needed to find something that was completely on my schedule, that could be done for an hour or 2 here and there, and that wasn’t set in stone, in case I needed to skip a time I would normally have available to pick up hours. This is where a company like Deliv comes in.
Basically Deliv is this: “If you’ve got a vehicle, a smart phone, and a friendly, professional work ethic— we’ve got an opportunity for you.” Deliv offers people the service of delivering items that have bought from participating retail stores. It ends up costing the purchaser about the same price that it would be to pay for 3-5 day shipping. Which is a great service, because how many times have you bought something and wished it was there NOW!
What this can do for people looking to make a few extra dollars? It doesn’t matter if you are trying to get a hand on your budget, or trying to make a few dollars for Christmas, or if you are a stay at home mom and have some free time while your kids are at preschool or all day at school. It doesn’t matter how tight your time schedule is. That is what makes this a great service.
So how does it work. People go through the application process and once you are hired, you sign in and receive where to pick up the delivery and where to deliver it to. You could be delivering items from malls and retailers like clothing, flowers and gift baskets including alcohol. The deliveries are made within a 15 mile radius and is delivered to residences, hotels, and workplaces, but pretty much wherever the the customers, that is where the delivers are made. Each city is different, but drivers make around $22- $25 an hour if there are deliveries.
Currently, you can sign up to be a driver, or have things delivered to you in these cities:
- San Francisco
- San Jose
- Downtown Chicago
- Santa Monica
With these new metros coming in mid-October
- Washington, D.C.
- Seattle, WA
- Wayne, NJ
- Houston, TX
You can see what retailers are available to order from by visiting the website.
I personally can not wait for it to come to my area, because between my husband and myself, we can each squeeze in a few hours a week to earn some extra money. Would this be a service you would use? Or would you consider signing it as a driver?
