Easy game for toddlers, preschool age children, teaching colors | The Spring Mount 6 Pack

Everyone knows the game Twister. The white vinyl mat with the colored circles that you have to put a hand or foot on whatever color the caller says the spinner lands on.

Well we have had Twister forever. None of my kids have ever played with Twister for more than 15 minutes before it ends with people being frustrated and quitting.

Until Willow.

She loves this game and always asks to bring it out and would run across the mat and just jump around.  So why not turn it into a learning game.

Until I had her try and “play”.

Our first attempts: I would spin the wheel for her, tell her  a color and she would run happily over and stand on it.

After playing that for a while, I moved the challenge up a bit. Now she has to put hands and feet. “put your foot on blue and your hand on red”

When I say Willow loves this game, I mean she LOVES this game and it can go on for a long while. So to add another bit of challenge level on it:

Willow spins the wheel and then she puts her baby on the color it shows. We usually have about 5 babies or animals she places here and there according to the wheel.

It turns into a great way for her to keep playing, keep learning while I can get some work done. I can sit near her, let her spin the wheel and she moves the babies around the colors. Sometimes I tell her what baby, sometimes i just watch her, but either way, I get to work and she get to keep practicing her colors.
